KidsCase

Kidscase designs tranquil, versatile and fashion-forward children’s clothes for boys and girls up to nine years. The Kidscase style is modern, dynamic and independent with a preference for the “basic plus†look: inventive, simple designs, refined and rich in detail and material and made of soft fabrics of very high quality. Comfortable, wearable, sophisticated, radiating style and cool chic. This results in individualistic collections, influenced and inspired by street- and sportswear just as well as by high fashion.
We are a small, indie company, founded in 2000 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, by Jacqueline van Nieuwkerk (design) and marketer Merel Verbrugge (sales & publicity). The first collection is on the market in 2001. From the start our simple fashion-forward style, our eye for detail in design, our intense, powerful colours and edgy colour combinations attract attention. That first collection is an immediate success with a number of pioneering children’s boutiques in The Netherlands and Belgium.
Now we work with a team of six people, among us co-designer Lies van Hulst. The collection is represented in Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Japan and Italy. Through our participation in international children’s fashion & lifestyle fairs kidscase can be found in leading department stores and innovative children’s shops all over the world.
From Amsterdam to London, from Tokyo to New York.
TAKING CARE OF PEOPLE AND PLANET
Right from the start in 2000 we have aimed to have our collections produced by methods that are both fair to people and environmentally friendly. It turned out to be no easy choice, but our enthusiasm to reach these objectives has never faded and with two steps forward and sometimes a leap back we’re getting there! We are constantly on the lookout for fabrics made from organically grown crops. We cooperate with factories that work with respect for their people and for our planet.
In concrete terms, 48% of the production of our Winter 2010/2011 collection is made of organic cotton and produced under good working conditions. This represents a small step back in our use of organic cotton, but shows progress in our quest to rely on socially fair and responsible methods of production. Our prognosis for the Summer 2011 collection is that our production will be 70% organic, of which 52% will be certified as made under humane working conditions. And we aren’t done yet.
